“ 3rd Sports Medicine & arthroscopy Workshop - Basic Shoulder” was
organized by the Chief Surgeon Dr Prateek Gupta.
The conference has been big success as year after year it has been attended by
over 150 delegates from all over India – as far off laces as Nagpur, Pune or
Channai. It was inaugurated by lady Mrs Mallashwari the Olympain medalist for
weight lifting, and presisded by Dr B K Rao – Chairman Board of management Sir
Ganga ram hospital.
Day 1 the 17th Mach was the CME on Sports Medicine topic which was conducted
and compared by Dr Prateek Gupta and Dr Bharat Inder Singh, where as the 2 –
18th March was session of Sports Injuries, physiology, Doping in first part of
morning followed by session on Shoulder injuries in Sports Person. The
afternoon was action packed with First Live Demo Surgery on Shoulder
Impingement Syndrome patient having cuff tear followed by hands-on workshop on
Shoulder Arthroscopy, Knott Tying and taping techniques, where the delegates
had chance to interact with eminent faculty from Delhi and out side like Dr
Anant Joshi and Dr Sanjay Desai. A course manual on Shoulder arthroscopy, knot
tying and on Taping technique was released during the workshop. The meeting
came to a close late in the evening.
19 March 06
“2nd Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Workshop – Basic Knee” was held at The
Auditorium, Sir Gangaram hospital. The meeting discussed knee problems suffered
by common man and Athlete . Further discussions were held on various treatment
options available for these conditions by experts like Dr Prateek Gupta, Dr
Anant Joshi, Dr Debasis Chatterjee. The Congress was inaugurated by Cricket
Icon Indian team Test player Mr Madan Lal who also shared first hand his own
experience with injuries and his expectations from Orthopaedic and Sports
Clinic like ours.
The morning sessions was based on Sports medicine topics and was followed by
crisp talks by the experts on Knee related issues. The afternoon session
started with a Live surgery on Meniscal tear followed by hands-on workshop on
models gining he delegates the feel of how the Basic Arthroscopy procedure are
done. The workshop was well attended.There were simaltaniou two other stations
one of Taping Technique and the other – Computer based Interactive session on
advance knee pathology where the delegates were shown how to perform advance
Arthroscopy knee Surgery and disuss the nitty gritty of the subject with the
experts.A course manual on Basic Knee Arthroscopy and Taping technique was
unveiled during the course of the congress. The congress was well attended and
the feed back forms showed that it was well appreciated by all the delegates.
13 March 05
“1Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Workshop – Knee” was organized by Dr Prateek
Gupta at Sir Gangaram hospital. The meeting was First of its kind Sports
medicine and Arthroscopy Workshop. The first session nthe Morning dealt with
basic sports medicine topics like Exercise physiology, nutrition, Sports
Psychology followed by session on knee pathology like Meniscus tear, Loose
body, Synovitis, plica. Post lunch session started with Live surgery on one of
the basic pathology Loose body patient a young female having locking of knee
joint. This was followed by Hands on Practice on arthroscopy knee models and
Taping technique.
The conference was inaugurated by India Hockey Wizzard Mr Dhanraj Pillai, who
also shared his own valuable experience with his own injuries. The workshop
released a Knee manual and also a manual on Taping Technique. The workshop saw
a unprecedented response as was the first of its kind event in North India.
